Shoreline project 2026
Lake Brienz · more beach for 2026

Status · 2025 season
The stretch of shore we are reshaping this winter.
Why now
Three pitches less. More shore for everyone.
Until 2025, three pitches stood right at the water — closing off the lake view and the swimming access for everyone else. The 2025/26 winter is the chance to give the shore back: lower water level, building permit in hand, season undisturbed. The three pitches stop existing. The beach grows.
Six changes
What changes between October 2025 and April 2026.
- 01
Three lake-front pitches removed
The three front-most pitches at the water are taken down. The space goes back to the beach.
Removed - 02
Shoreline gently flattened
The transition from lawn to water becomes smooth — low-barrier for children and dogs.
Reshaped - 03
Generous bathing & sun lawn
The new beach stretch is more generous than before.
Expanded - 04
Island reshaped
The little island in the Aaregg harbour is being reshaped. It stays recognisable; the line to the lawn becomes calmer.
Reshaped - 05
New wooden jetty
The existing jetty is replaced by a new wooden one.
New build - 06
Expanded shallow zone
The shallow-water zone is extended — safer for children, easier for SUP beginners.
Expanded
Schedule
Build in winter, open as usual.
- Winter 2025/26
Build phase
The lower water level allows construction in the shore zone. Six interventions — see the list above.
- 1 April 2026
Season opening
The 2026 season starts as planned on 1 April with the redesigned shore.
